Welfare

Nottinghamshire ASA, we are fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all our members and creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our approach to safeguarding is built on Swim England’s Wavepower guidelines, which provide a clear framework for protecting children and adults from harm. These principles guide our efforts to ensure that every member feels secure, valued, and respected.

Our county Welfare Officer, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding. They will serve as the primary point of contact for any welfare or safeguarding concerns and works independently to prioritize the best interests of those involved. Whether you need advice, support, or guidance, they are available to address your concerns and, when necessary, will liaise with Swim England’s Safeguarding Team or external agencies.

As part of the wider swimming community in Nottinghamshire, we extend our support to the welfare of swimmers across all clubs in the county. We are happy to discuss any concerns raised by members of our club and are committed to offering assistance wherever possible.
For those who prefer to seek advice outside the club, Swim England, in partnership with the NSPCC, provides a confidential helpline known as Swimline, which can be reached at 0808 100 4001.

This service is available to anyone who believes a child’s welfare may be at risk, addressing many different concerns.
Should any issues arise, they are committed to addressing them promptly and with confidentiality. Any reported breaches of our welfare policies will be handled in line with established procedures to ensure a fair and effective resolution. Our goal is to provide a safe space where all members feel confident and supported as they pursue their passion for swimming.

Within Nottinghamshire ASA, the welfare of our members and the wider Nottinghamshire swimming community is a responsibility we take seriously. Together, we can create an environment where every swimmer can participate safely, enjoyably, and to their full potential.

Currently Nottinghamshire ASA are seeking a new Welfare Officer, but during this period all welfare issues and concerns may be raised with the East Midlands Welfare officer Ursula Beck (eastmidlands.welfare@swimenglandvolunteers.org)
