Ollie Hynd secured his third gold medal of the IPC Swimming European Championships in Madeira after winning the S8 100m Backstroke.
In his final, Hynd reached the turn first just ahead of Iurii Bozhynskyi (Ukraine) and showed his strength through the final 50m to touch first.
The Paralympic Champion finished in 1:06.56 to add 100m Backstroke gold to his S8 400m Freestyle and SM8 200m Individual Medley titles.
“I`m really happy to have won three golds,” Hynd said. “Although I would have liked a little bit more tonight with the time. It was a little bit slower than what I went last week at trials so that’s a little disappointing but it’s been a long couple of weeks of racing.
“It means everything to be standing on top of the podium for the third time though. I mean there is no greater feeling than winning a medal and hearing the National anthem.”
