1997 Tom Archer

Tom ArcherTom has had a very successful year despite having to cope with both 'A' levels and serious training and competition. Tom was selected for the England Schools Team after winning the National Schools 400m freestyle, he then went on to win this event at the home International.

His performances at the National Championships have been very impressive with a 4th place finish in the 1500m freestyle at the Winter Championships in December and a fantastic performance in the 400m IM at the Senior Championships in July where he recorded a time which ranks him second in Great Britain. Tom has had victories at all levels, County, District and National, he has also had a string of good results in Grand Prix events.

Tom has an excellent committed approach to training and competition, his results are the product of a high work ethic. He is a good example to all other swimmers on the squad. My congratulations to Tom on this latest award which is richly deserved.

Update:
Tom finished his degree at Nottingham University in summer 2001, getting a 2:1 in Politics. He left Nova and played at Hucknall Water Polo Club where he voted player of the year in his first year. He is a fireman and married Heidi Earp in 2004.
